And Project64 runs under Linux and will most likely to continue to do so. Mupen64 is better than PJ 1.4 in most senses, except speed. I made sure to get the correct plugins as listed for the virtual controller and the controller does show up correctly within the Project 64 application, but I cannot get it to respond to my touch. So, In other words, Wine is not an emulator in any sense. I use it a lot with the ePSX emulator and in a similar vein, tried getting the Virtual Controller for Project 64 up and running, but to no avail. The Project64 binaries are cycling on the CPU, making a few calls to Wine that make a few more calls to Linux.

And Wine is not a platform, it is a set of libraries that implement most of the Windows API on top of the Unix API, So it really does "run" on Linux. Jabo is working somewhat well, Rice is working somewhat better. Personally, I think Rice Video is better, and GUI is very unimportant considering Mupen64's is well enough to use. For one thing, Project64 has GUI and Jabo over Mupen64 - and some speed - but nothing else. Project64 1.4 is a downgrade from it in many aspects. Mupen64 isn't really that bad, though it is not for the slower PCs. So i don't think theres any way to state that Wines an emulator - it doesn't function the same as Windows or emulate Windows. VMWare is an emulator in that sense, even though technically it does virtualization. Such a vast platform with so much going on inevitably runs into problems however. Since it does not do any ACTUAL emulation, its not an emulator in the classic sense either. It doesn’t do Retroarch justice just to call it a frontend for every console emulator imaginable because all the great emulators can be integrated into it, downloaded and loaded up as cores within seconds. Why? Because wine does not emulate windows in any sense: It implements the Windows API, but not in a way like that of Windows itself implements the Windows API, so its not an emulator in the sense it does the same thing as the other app. Not in the same definition as project64, or in any other definition. This causes the flickering to return and didn't go away until another Reset, so play your game in Windowed mode.Īlso I found out, that option may not have to be off? I did this same things of what I said above and it still works? So i think as a workaround for this, you need to have the game open, then stream it through Discord, then Reset game and there you go.Īlthough this is a workaround, I feel like it will be good if this issue was truly fixed sometime.Wine is not an emulator. ?Īlso going fullscreen is not recommended. If that doesn't fix it the first time, stop the stream, then do it again.

If the screen flickers, simply try a Reset of the game, then for me, that fixed it every time. You need to have game already open, then start streaming it through Discord. Discord does not seem to have a problem with Jabo Direct3D, Glide64/Project64 Video, or angrylion, so I think it really is just a GLideN64 issue.Īlthough that can be a workaround, its not perfect. Yeah I have a feeling this is specifically a GLideN64 problem. But it's still an issue with the default settings.

And the same issue doesn't happen with other streaming software meaning that Discord is partly to blame too.

My PC is more than powerful enough to run the slightly more demanding settings and stream with plenty of power to spare, so it really isn't much of an issue. v64 roms into the folder e:\apps\emulators 64\roms\ (this is where the put roms here.txt file was located), and the roms aren't showing up when I restart my xbox and load up surreal 64. My CPU is a AMD Ryzen 5 2600X Six-Core Processor Project 64 Emulator Question - posted in Computer Gaming: Ok, i know i have a crappy vid card, but everything meets the minimum requirements to run the program. I have Surreal 64 installed on my xbox, and I've transferred a few. If I uncheck the option, everything works fine as expected again. And it happens with version 3.0, 4.0, and the latest build of GLideN64. This happens with all versions of PJ64 I tested including the latest, all versions of Bizhawk tested including the latest, and the latest build of Mupen64. I usually don't have any problems with any game, but if I have "Use emulator help to read/write framebuffers" checked and turn on Discord's game capture (but not the window screen share), the video in the emulator starts flickering black pretty intensely. I ran into a pretty major problem that only happens under very specific circumstances to every game tested and may be hardware specific.
